Light winds on 1st day in Adelaide

Published Sat 16 Apr 2022

The first day of competition of the 2022 Australian Nationals saw very little wind. The first race started in 4 knots of wind with the 303 doubles fleet going first. However, even World Champions Chris Symonds and Manuela Klinger couldn’t get to the top mark before the necessary 15 minutes so the race was abandoned.

There was a strong tide and for some boats the speed over the ground was nil.  Eventually the wind speed crept up to 6 knots so all three divisions managed to get in two races under very trying circumstances.

Results for Day 1 can be found at this link.
